Four Teams Will Compete at The Home Depot Center; Four Other Teams at the National Sports Center
WASHINGTON, D.C. - (Thursday, April 15, 2004) – The matchups are set for the WUSA Soccer Festivals in June, as all eight teams will be competing in the exhibition events. Optimism Reigns
March 2, 2004 -- WUSA fans saddened by the arrival of March 1 without their favorite club opening training camp can rejoice in the fact that more professional women's soccer lies ahead. This year on March 1, the co-chairs of the league's re-launch committee announced that Los Angeles, California and Blaine, Minnesota will host weekend festivals this June. Of about 120 domestic players asked about participating, an estimated 100 have already responded positively. Continued HERE
WUSA Ramping Up for 2004 and Beyond
(January 22, 2004) -- The world’s best women’s soccer players will return in 2004 with the WUSA Soccer Festivals that will take place this summer. During meetings held in December, League officials formulated a plan to host a series of WUSA matches and events to serve as a bridge for the league as it prepares to return with a full operation in 2005. While the venues and specific dates are not yet set, the WUSA Soccer Festivals will take place in June of 2004, bringing fans a weekend of soccer-related events. Continued HERE
WUSA Suspends Operations
NEW YORK CITY (Monday, September 15, 2003) - The Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) announced that it is suspending operations effective immediately. The decision was made by the league's Board of Governors at a meeting today in New York City as a result of insufficient revenue to support a fourth year of play. Continued HERE
